Henri Louis Scott

Henri Louis Scott (French 1846-1884)

Henri Louis Scott was born in Le Havre France(Normandy). Largely known for his drawings and landscape paintings, he was also a master of capturing everyday life around the docks, maritime activities, and seascapes.  Having grown up on the Normandy Coast, one of Scotts favorite subjects was the sea; wave patterns, coastlines and the moody storms that characterize the Normandy coastline. In this work, "Out to Sea" Scotts vast sky meets the rising sun, capturing the casual yet hectic atmosphere of fisherman heading out to sea.

Scotts first exhibition was in 1872 with subsequent participation in the important Parisian Salon Shows. He died in Paris in 1884 at the young age of 38.
