Marta Elisabet Fossel
Marta Elisabet Fossel (German 1880-1965) The painter Marta Elisabet Fossel was born in the Liezen 16 May 1880 daughter of the district physician Dr.. Viktor Fossel and received an artistic training in painting and in the art of engraving. Student of Alfred von Schrötter in art school in Graz. He attended Frauenakademie of Monaco of Bavaria with Prof. Max feldbauer. Among his works are portraits, engravings, book illustrations, series of reproductions of the traditional clothing of Alpine populations of Germanic world. She was a member of the del Künstlerbund di Graz. Multifaceted artist with talent also mastered a dozen musical instruments. She received public recognition for her work of representation of popular traditions, the traditional dress and customs of Styria. In the annual exhibition Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung in Monaco from 1937-1944 she exhibited five works: three in 1938 Old peasant woman, Bauernmäderl and Oberösterreichischer Bauer, in 1939 Bauersfrau; in 1940 Wollspinnerin. Marta Elisabet Fossel died in Graz, the city where she spent most of her life, the 20 April 1965. Works |
